Ethiopia Shakiso | Dark Roast Bold Natural Coffee
Bold, robust, and naturally sweet. Sourced from the legendary Guji zone in the Oromia Region, this spectacular lot is grown by smallholder farmers at staggering altitudes of up to 2,100 meters. While these Ethiopian heirloom varieties are traditionally roasted light, we have brought this natural process lot to a dark roast profile to create something truly extraordinary.
Farming in Shakiso remains beautifully traditional and "organic-by-default," with families hand-picking cherries that are then sun-dried on raised African beds. By roasting these beans dark, the natural melon and honey notes are transformed into a deep, caramelized, berry-jam sweetness, backed by a heavy body and a smooth, low-acid finish. It’s a bold cup that stands up beautifully to milk, cream, or espresso brewing.
